The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has been an associate member of Scholars at Risk-Sweden for many years. Now, they are stepping up their commitment by contributing to the hosting of at-risk scholars at Swedish universities

“Unfortunately, threats to academic freedom are increasing in many countries today. It is particularly serious when war makes scientific work impossible, or when researchers are persecuted or subjected to sanctions under totalitarian regimes,” says Hans Ellegren, Permanent Secretary of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

He adds that the Academy is particularly committed to ensuring that the support to Scholars at Risk enables at-risk scholars from Gaza to continue their research in Sweden for a period of time.
